Set up your workspace
Setting up your TimerOS workspace takes a few minutes. You’ll register and pick a plan, add the structure your team works in — departments, roles, and members — and, on Startup and above, define the shifts that drive overtime. This page walks the sensible first path.
Register and pick a plan
Registration creates your workspace and provisions your data. Your plan tier decides which features unlock. Freelancer and Startup are self-serve; Enterprise is currently early access (“Talk to sales”), so you’ll open an in-app sales request rather than buy it directly. You can change plans later from the dashboard — upgrades charge a prorated amount immediately, while downgrades take effect at your next renewal.
For what each tier includes, see pricing. Time tracking, projects, clients, billing, and basic expenses and profit are available on every tier; team management, departments, shifts, and approvals start at Startup; payroll, the org chart, and custom roles are Enterprise.
Build a first structure
A simple starting shape works well: your department structure, a small set of roles, then your people. Startup uses pre-defined role presets across five canonical levels (Owner, Executive, Management, Team Leader, Team Member); Enterprise unlocks fully custom roles built on a permission matrix.
- 1Create your departments. Startup has a single department (named “Company”); Enterprise adds custom departments.
- 2Set roles. Pick presets on Startup, or author custom roles on Enterprise from the Roles page.
- 3Invite members from the website dashboard. You provide name, email, and a dashboard role; optional Position → Department → Team placement can be set now or left as “Awaiting placement”. The invitee receives an email with a link to set their own password and join.
Configure shifts (Startup and up)
Shifts define working hours and let the desktop app split time correctly: inside a shift, work counts as productive; outside it, the same work becomes overtime, and idle or break time becomes uncounted off-work. Define shift patterns on the Shifts page and view them on Schedule. Workspaces without shifts (for example Freelancer) simply track all day, keeping work as regular hours. See shifts and scheduling and time states for the details.
Next steps
- Set your workspace name, time zone, and tracking rules in Settings — see organizing your workspace.
- Have your team install the desktop app: install on Windows (macOS is on the way — see the roadmap).
- Walk a new member through their first day.
Note that single sign-on (SAML) and an audit log are listed in Settings but are not yet available — they’re on the roadmap.
